Designed for members of The Camping and Caravanning Club, our specialist insurance offers flexible cover and great value
Insurance policies always contain specific terms that can be difficult to understand, so we have put together this guide to help you understand what the words in your policy mean and which benefits and features are right for you.
At Club Care we offer a choice of three cover options – new for old, agreed value and market value – which are collectively known as the ‘basis of cover’ for your policy. You can see a detailed example of what each of these means and which one will be best for your needs on our basis of cover explained page.
In addition to the basis of cover, you will also need to decide how much you want to insure your caravan for. This figure will determine the maximum amount you will be paid following the total loss of your caravan, irrespective of the basis of cover you have chosen. In simple terms, if you have opted for new for old cover, but your sums insured aren’t sufficient to cover the purchase of a new caravan, then the settlement offered to you will not cover all the costs.
If you have any doubt as to what your sums insured should be then please call one of our friendly and knowledgeable advisers on 0800 124 4633 who will be very happy to help you. Club Care advisors will provide guidance on how to go about buying enough insurance but the final decision on this remains with you.
Your insurance policy will cover the cost of repairing or replacing your caravan and any awnings, contents or personal belongings for a number of eventualities including storm and flood damage, fire, theft, accidents on the road, impact from falling objects and many other situations.
Club Care will insure your awning up to the value of your total sums insured. Theft from your awning is also covered, but limited to £125 per item up to a maximum total of £500 for all items on any one occasion. You should take care not to leave your awning erected for more than four days in succession unless someone is available to remove it in the event of strong winds as if you do so Club Care will not be able to cover the loss.
All of your camping and caravanning equipment, including tents (awnings are covered separately), toilet tents, gas bottles, batteries, security devices (including wheel clamps), stabilisers, generators, satellite dishes, solar panels, aqua roll, air conditioning units, motor movers that are not fixed to your unit, camping lanterns and sports equipment, will be covered by your policy up to the sums insured you have chosen.
Your Club Care policy will insure your caravan contents against loss, damage or theft up to the value of the sums insured you have chosen. Contents that are insured include bedding, linen, luggage, general household goods, portable television sets, audio equipment and personal possessions belonging to you or your family, but not money or valuables. Club members can enjoy up to £500 FREE contents cover.
This cover will provide you or your family with a benefit should you be injured or killed when on holiday with your caravan.
Alternative accommodation
If your caravan should be stolen or damaged during your holiday then Club Care will pay up to £3,500 towards alternative accommodation or the hire of a similar caravan to allow you to continue your holiday.
No matter how careful you are, there are many situations where you could cause loss, damage or injury to others when using your caravan. Your Club Care policy will cover your legal liability up to a limit of £5,000,000.
